Table Namecables
FieldTypeDescription
Cablekey32 bit IntegerSystem generated integer which serves as the unique identifier of the circuit.
CableCodeString(12)A code used to identify the cable. This must be unique within the project. A scheme such as beginning all power cables with P, control cables with C etc. may be useful. For instance, a 7/c #12 might be C001. While there is no requirement that digits be used, it is recommended that the numerical portion be padded with zeros. This will allow more uniform ordering of the list of cables.
ConductorsPerSetSmall IntegerA set may be 2 wires if the cable contains pairs, or it may be 7 wires if the cable is a 7 conductor control cable. If the cable contains multiple sets (such as multiple pairs) then the SetCount (see below) will reflect this number. Typical cables will have a ConductorsPerSet equal to the number of wires and a SetCount equal to one.
SetNameString(25)This is the name, such as pairs or /c or triad, which is used to refer to the wire configuration of the cable. This string is used in the construction of the cable description throughout the program.
DescriptionString(60) This field can be used to enter a description of the cable which is suitable for use in a company purchasing system. It is not required for the application to work correctly.
ItemCodeString(12) This field can be used to enter an identifier which is used in an external purchasing system.
SetCountSmall Integer This field corresponds to the number of conductor groups within a cable. For typical cables this will be one. For a cable with pairs of conductors, this is the number of pairs in the cable.
ConductorTypeString(20) The conductor type code as supplied by the manufacturer.
ConductorSizeString(8) The wire size of the conductors used in the cable. This does not include the units ( awg, kcmil).
SizeUnitString(6) Holds the size unit to be used in conjunction with the wire size. This value is populated automatically when a wire size is chosen, however it can be overriden.
InsulationString(10) The insulation type as supplied by the manufacturer.
JacketString(10) The type of jacket as supplied by the manufacturer.
GroundSizeString(12) The size of the ground conductor, if the cable has one. When an entry is made in this field, the Ground flag will automatically be set.
TemperatureString(10) Temperature rating as supplied by the manufacturer.
AmbientTempString(10) Ambient temperature rating as supplied by the manufacturer.
VoltsString(5) The volt rating as supplied by the manufacturer.
InConduitAmpsString(8) The amp rating when the cable is enclosed in conduit, as supplied by the manufacturer.
ConduitSizeString(8) The required conduit size, as supplied by the manufacturer.
CableODFloat The outer diameter of the cable, as supplied by the manufacturer. When this data is entered, the cable area field will be automatically entered.
CableAreaFloat The cross sectional area of the cable. This data is calculated when the OD field is entered.
ColorCodeString(12) The code corresponding to the wire color scheme used on the cable. This can be one of the standard schemes or may be a special scheme defined within the project.
VendorString(30) The name of the vendor or manufacturer of the cable.
CatalogNbrString(20) The vendor or manufacturer's catalog number for the cable.
WeightPer1000Float Weight in pounds of 1,000 feet of the cable.
RepeatColorsBoolean A flag which indicates whether the colors should be repeated for each set if the set count is greater than one. For example, if the cable has 4 pairs where each pair is red and black, only those 2 colors need to be defined (as the first and second colors) to accomodate the cable. If the colors don't repeat, a scheme with all of the colors used must be defined and the repeat colors check box must be de-selected.
GroundBoolean A flag indicating whether the cable has a ground conductor. If a ground size is entered, this flag will automatically be set.
ShieldBoolean A flag indicating whether the cable has an overall shield.
InsertDateDateTime Each record is stamped with the date/time when it is inserted.
LastModifiedDateTime Each record is stamped with the date/time when it is updated in any way.
