How To Create a New Device Type Code

Device codes correspond to a type of device or equipment. Each equipment defined in the project must have a device type associated with it.
Codes may be alphanumeric however, codes which have some relationship to the description may be most useful. It will be helpful to devise the code structure so that the noun corresponds to the first letter. In this way, the like codes will appear together in the picklist. For example MAC may be the code for an AC Motor, MDC the code for a DC Motor.

1. Use the Codes | Device Types... menu item.
   
   The Device Types dialog box will appear.
   
   
2. Press the New Type button.
   
   
3. Enter the code to be used and the description for the code.
   
   
4. To save the code, press the Ok button.
   To cancel entry of the new code, press the escape key or press the Cancel button.
